Sounds Good But Bad Product Idea_ Week 6

Over the years we have seen many times the innovation of new products. Sometimes they may sail while other ones are a big flop. Many of these flops sound like great ideas on paper but after the creation, marketing and distribution they just don't have the impact on there target audience that they had planned. It seems to be popular to combine two successful ideas into one new idea to make a whole new product. Here are several ideas I have come up with that sound great but I wilil also discuss why they would probably fail instead.Justify Full Popcorn flavored gum, I mean everybody loves that butter flavor of popcorn and is obsess with constantly have something in there mouth to chew on at all times. So why not popcorn flavored gum? I can only imagine that people would buy it at first but after a few minutes of chewing it would probably make them extra thirsty and a while after that they might even start feeling sick. It would kind of be like chewing on a stick of butter, and that is just no good. So this idea is a definite no! Now what about bread that already has the flavor of peanut butter and jelly in it? You can get the bread with strawberry or grape flavored jelly. This does sound like a lot better idea and well it could very well succeed. The problem with this idea is while it would be less messy to serve to kids it defeats the purpose of a sandwich. So you have a piece of bread that you can eat alone by itself and maybe toast it, but to have it as a sandwich probably not. I mean what would you put on a a slice of bread that already taste like peanut butter and jelly that wouldn't make you sick in the stomach. Well I guess it could be a good Idea for pregnant women or not so much. Let's leave theae ideas on the cutting room floor and just move on to bigger and way better ideas.

Marketing vs. Advertising

"Advertising is Happiness," according to the character of Don Draper on the show Mad Men. Advertising is a single component in Marketing. Marketing takes much time and planning and Advertising is only a piece of the strategy. Advertising is an ad or message to its current or even potential customers; it is often non personal and is meant to persuade future or existing customers to purchase their product or service over another sponsors similar product. Advertising is the placing of an ad on television, the internet, newspaper or magazines and with marketing you know where to place that ad. Advertising is the most costly part of the marketing process. In marketing you have to research and pinpoint a specific target audience and demographic. You have to find out who would want to purchase your product and whom it appeals to as well. Without marketing you would not have the best advertising. Often people get marketing and advertising mixed up or they think they are one in the same, when in reality marketing is the whole big picture with many other components to make it successful, in turn advertising, while an important part of marketing it is that, a component, a part, a piece of the pie. Doing your market research well can be the difference between a lasting and effective advertising campaign and a campaign that can potential cause you to have a loss of money. So in conclusion it is extremely important to know the difference between marketing and advertising, knowing that the two are very different. So in order to get the word out you must know who you are speaking to and who want to purchase your product.

The Dollar

Should America have a weak dollar or strong dollar? At first thought this seems like an easy question to answer, a strong dollar of course. Then I think of the effect a strong dollar has on the interpersonal relations with the rest of the world and there forth they might go to another distributer in another country. If we have a weak dollar, the cost of imports in other countries will seem to cost us more. So it is not an easy answer after all, while there are both negatives and positives for both choices. I contemplate the two not so simple choices at hand and I way the options, in my final decision I decide that America should have a strong dollar. A strong dollar to begin with has great moral for the American people. In this case consumers will be more willing to go out and purchase whatever is out there, they will fill like they are worth something and their dollar is worth something. So in turn if our exports are not at an all time high, our internal economy will possibly make up for it. Just like when the country is in a recession and everybody continues to remind everybody else, moral is very low and no one want to go anywhere do or buy anything. So when it comes to the economy it is all physiological, just like marketing is the same way. So in my final conclusion I believe that having a strong dollar would be the best for America rather than a weak dollar, because after all, don’t we all want to be strong.

Good and Bad Customer Service

It was only about five or so weeks ago, when I went to McDonalds. It was about 2 O’clock in the morning on a Saturday to be exact. This McDonald’s you had to pull up to the window to order. I order my food and paid, there was a car in front of me so I was waiting at the window I ordered. The guy working kept asking me questions, like my name what I’m up to and trying to get my number and just being overall noisy and in my business. While it may sound flattering, the situation was making me feel uncomfortable and I just wanted to get out of there. The car in front of me was gone and I was moving forward and the guy kept asking me questions. I pulled up to the next window and got my food, checked it as I pulled away, it was wrong. It was good enough that I would still eat but I did not want to bother with it. I have avoided that McDonald’s now, especially at that hour. It doesn’t matter where you are working or what time of day, one need to be professional and not scare customers away.

I went to Walgreens for a quick stop. I bought some makeup, hair products and such. When it came time to check out the older lady in the beauty department offered to ring me up. She rang my stuff up and examined everything I had, and then she pulled out a small tub of unused coupons, she skimmed through several and scanned a few. She ended up saving me two dollars, it may not sound like much but that was two dollars I would otherwise not have saved if someone else rang up my purchases. That wasn’t the first time she had helped me on a shop at that Walgreens, and she is a reason I feel comfortable going there. It may not be the most exciting job, but helping people and doing the best customer service is all that can be expected, and she went above the call of duty.
